2008 Softball Canada Level IV Clinic
Each
year Level IV clinics are held across the country at the request of various
provincial UIC's. This clinic is open to all Umpires who are fully certified
Level III umpires.
After
completing this weekend clinic, to become fully certified an official must
receive the recommendation from a national championship (see Certification
Criteria information).

a Softball Canada Level IV Umpire Clinic in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan on April 5th
& 6th at the Ramada Hotel & Golf Dome. Should you wish to reserve a room
at the Ramada Hotel, please call (306) 665-6500. The cost of the Level IV Clinic
is $175.00 and the registration fee must be paid to Softball Saskatchewan and be
received by March 10th, 2008.

SOFTBALL ONTARIO ANNOUNCES SOFTBALL
CANADA LEVEL IV UMPIRE CLINIC
NORTH YORK, ONTARIO – Softball Ontario’s Umpire Program is happy to announce
they are hosting a Softball Canada Level IV Umpire Clinic in St. Thomas, Ontario
on April 26-27, 2008. Please note this clinic is being held at Elgin Labour
Hall, 18 Princess Avenue, St. Thomas, ON N5R 3V2 and is the same location as the
Softball Canada Instructor/Evaluator Umpire Clinic.
This two-day course is essential for any Ontario Umpire aspiring to attend a
Softball Canada Championship tournament (not including Pee Wee and Bantam
Girls). An action packed course, the Level IV clinic covers many topics
including the Spirit of Umpiring, Mental Preparation and Preventative
Officiating. Softball Canada top notch Umpire Instructors for this clinic
include: Brian Sharples, Softball Canada Official Development Committee from
Pickering, ON: Jeff Whipple Softball Canada Fast Pitch Level 5 Official from
Fredericton, NB and Ray Day, Softball Canada Slo-Pitch Level 5 Official from
Mississauga, ON.
In order to be eligible to attend the Level IV Umpire Clinic, you must be a
fully certified Level III Official with a minimum of two (2) years experience.
Softball Ontario must recruit a minimum of fifteen (15) participants by April
10, 2008 in order to host the 2008 Softball Canada Level IV Umpire clinic, so
apply today! If the minimum number of participants is not reached by April 10,
the clinic will be cancelled. Softball Ontario will continue to accept
applications after the deadline providing the minimum of fifteen (15)
participants have registered.
Cost: &n bsp; Member Fee: $225.00 plus GST per participant
&nbs p; &n bsp; Non Member Fee: $275.00 plus GST per participant
Note: Member means individual is a registered umpire with Softball Ontario in
the current year or in the previous year.
Softball Ontario Mandatory Certification Policy- Effective 2002- all umpires
Softball Ontario must attend a recognized Umpires clinic every two year.

Attended Softball Ontario Umpire Refresher Clinic
Attended Softball Ontario Instructor/Evaluator Training Weekend
Attended the next highest Umpire Level Clinic in sequence to what the Umpire has
already taken
Attended a Softball Canada Blue Convention
Attended a Softball Canada Mechanics School
Re-Take the highest level clinic that you have (a Softball Ontario Level 4
Umpire may take a Softball Ontario Level 3 Umpire Clinic)
Softball Ontario has reserved accommodations for clinic participants at Ramada
St. Thomas, 292 Wellington Street, Hwy 3 Exit 1st Ave, St Thomas, ON N5R 2S9
with a room rate of $89.00 plus applicable taxes. It is the responsibility of
participants who require accommodation to book their own accommodations. Please

What to do if you want to
go: contact Grant Hood, Alberta UIC. Only certified Level IIIs are permitted to
attend the Level IV clinic. YOU MUST BE A FULLY CERTIFIED
LEVEL III UMPIRE FOR TWO OR MORE YEARS IN ORDER TO ATTEND THIS CLINIC. THIS CLINIC IS
MANDATORY FOR OFFICIALS ATTENDING MAJOR CANADIAN CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENTS
(MIDGET, JUNIOR, SENIOR).
This clinic does not make
you a Level IV. You must now proceed to a Canadian Championship and obtain a
positive evaluation to obtain your certified Level IV status.
The registration
form must be filled out by the umpire attending and
sent to the Provincial UIC (Grant Hood) for his approval.
