Blue
Convention
What is the Blue Convention?
A convention is a reunion of persons who
deliberate, share and perfect knowledge. The Blue is a respectful nickname given
to umpires from Canada and around the world in slow pitch, fast pitch and
orthodox softball.
The Blue Convention is held every two
years (at odd year) and gather Canadian umpires who want to take the umpire
program to the next level.
A lot of workshops will be available, and
we will exchange on many subjects regarding the sport of softball.
The first Convention was held in 1997 in
Toronto, followed by Vancouver in 1999, Fredericton in 2001, Kitchener in 2003
and Calgary in 2005.
The Blue Convention 2007 will be held in
Quebec City from April 5th to April 8th 2007. Quebec City will host the 6th
Convention and by the way the 10th anniversary of the Convention. In fact, many
people from over the world attend the convention since the beginning.
The fee is $135 to attend the workshops of
your choice, the official shirt of the convention, the pin and a welcome kit.
Tickets for the Saturday night Canadian
Indicator's Club Banquet and the Sunday morning breakfast can be bought
separately from Softball Canada.
On Thursday and Sunday morning (April 5th
and 8th) the Blue Convention and Softball Quebec will host a Level IV Clinic. A
tradition started at the Blue Convention 2005 in Calgary.
